Raptor Chat Skins
This page will cover everything related to
Raptor Chat skins, a skin is a set of images and font/color styles to be used
within an application, changing skins allows you to give the program a
completely different look and feel. All skins are made up of 65 bitmap images,
the bitmap format is used for it is the fastest loading and of perfect quality.
One skin is 1.86 MB, although compressed it is approximately 97 KB which makes
it very easy to download or transfer over the Internet.
Installing Raptor Chat Skins
Skins are easy to install, simply download the
compressed skin file and then extract it to your Raptor Chat\Skins directory.
(The default installation directory for Raptor Chat 2001 is "C:\Program Files\Buaron Software\Raptor Chat 2001")
Once you have extracted the files then go to the Raptor Chat\Options\GUI
section, select the skins name and press on "Load" if the skin was
just recently added and not displayed in that list then hit the
"Reload" button to have Raptor Chat research for existing skins.
Creating Raptor Chat Skins
Anyone is welcome to create Raptor Chat skins,
in fact we encourage that you do, and we will provide you with support. If you
create a nice skin then we would love to add it to this page, so please send all
skins that you create to skins@raptorchat.com,
although only the best skins will be posted.
In order to create a skin you will need two
things, the skin design image
and any other complete skin to guide you. In addition to the 65 bitmap images
there is an ".ini" file, which contains all of the font and color
properties that go along with the skin, so you will need to open that and edit
it appropriately. If you are trying to get the hex value of a color then enter
the Raptor Chat\Options\Colors section, changing the color of any property will
display the hex value of that color in the bottom text field.
If you intend to create a completely original
skin then use the provided skin design image and design the entire main skin
there, then cut it up into all of the separate images. If you just want to make
a quick easy skin then it is much easier to just edit each of the 65 images and
apply the same effect to each.
